High Blood Pressure and Chiropractic Care in Portland, OR
There are new studies that are suggesting that chiropractic treatments targeting specific vertebral levels of the thoracic spine can lower high blood pressure, also known as hypertension.
Unfortunately hypertension often goes undetected, but if it’s caught people tend to get on hypertension medication immediately. What’s also unfortunate is the sound medical research and studies concluding there are significant side effects of these medications. Studies have also found that exercise and conscious eating can lower high blood pressure too, but it’s completely understandable that these findings regarding exercise and diet are under utilized. It’s rigorous and restrictive work, often frustrating and defeating too.
The new evidence stating that specific chiropractic adjustments to the thoracic spine is backed by meta-analysis and systematic reviews, these are the highest level of academic research conducted.
What’s still uncertain is the mechanism of why and how it works. The medical community knows a lot about the human body, but not everything. There are several studies currently attempting to understand how these mechanisms work, but the take away here is we know it works.
Most people see their chiropractor more than they see their medical doctors. It’s important for the entire medical community to work together to provide preventive and comprehensive care to our patients.
