Headache Solutions In North Portland
Almost every human being on the planet experiences this at least once in their life. This pounding from inside the head. This feeling of something about to tear through your skull and pop out.
This thing is called a headache.
But what really is it?
Well, Mayo clinic defines headaches as pain in any region of the head.
Simple enough.
But not really.
Our head is complex much like our entirety and it is essentially divided into various parts which classify as different types of headaches in North Portland when they hurt with different causes for them all. Which of course, must mean that there are different treatments for them all.
Let's look at the different types of headaches and the causes for these in North Portland OR:
- tension headaches:This is usually a dull and aching sensation which is felt all over the head. Cause: most often stress.
- cluster headaches: These types of headaches are accompanied by burning and stinging with them being on one side of the face, usually. They occur in series with each one lasting longer than 10 minutes. Cause: There isn’t a definitive cause for cluster headaches but they do originate within nerves which are connected to the spine.(directly under chiropractic expertise)
- migraine headaches: These have pain originating from deep within the head, one sided and very severe causing sensitivity to light and sound with interference in day to day activities. Causes: PTSD, sensory overload, sleep changes, medications, stress, etc.
- allergy or sinus headaches: These cause pain in the front of the head and the sinus area. Cause: Allergy or sinus build up/infection.
- hormone headaches: Also called menstrual migraine and are exactly as they sound, Migraines occurring especially during menstruation. As if cramps weren’t enough.. Cause: Hormonal fluctuations.
- caffeine headaches: Caffeine intake allows for blood flow to your brain which upon withdrawal or providing too much of causes headaches. Cause: too much or too little or caffeine stimulant.
- exertion headaches: Quite like caffeine, when too much physical exertion is done there’s too much blood flow to the brain causing headache. Cause: vigorous physical exertion.
- hypertension headaches: A pulsating headache all over the skull occurring when blood pressure is dangerously high. Cause: High blood pressure.
- rebound headaches: These teeter between dull and intense pain. Cause: overuse of OTC meds.
- Post-traumatic headaches: Could be chronic headaches which can be dull or painful and last for half to a full year. Cause: accidents or head injury
All of these headaches, diverse as they are, can be cured with the help of a chiropractic as they adjust the spinal alignment and soothe the nerves which reduces the pain and over time completely cures it. Chiropractic doesn’t have side effects like pills would, they aren’t invasic with a chance or infection or relapse or worsening like surgeries.
It is always recommended to consult your doctor before going to a chiropractic to ensure that it is safe for you.
But, once you get the go, book an appointment with your closest chiropractor to get that pounding shut down, once and for all.
Happy headache relieving!
